Howdy bloggers, Graeme McDowall here marketing genius (either that or 2nd year marketing management student at Manchester Met!). I’m currently doing a placement at award winning digital marketing company PushON, and my would be employers have decided to let me loose on the company blog so get ready for the first and hopefully not the last blog post of my life and feel free to comment at the bottom letting me know how it’s gone.

The North West. A region that includes the European capital of culture and the same region that brought the world international superstars including The Beatles and Oasis, it also happens to be a hotbed for digital media events. Amazing isn’t it? I’ll start off with SAScon Mini, a scaled down version of its big brother SAScon conference that took place in Manchester this summer. For those who don’t know SAScon is Search Analytics and Social media conference and is an annual summer event with SAScon mini being held in the winter. This year’s mini event is sure to be worthwhile for those with an interest in the ever more important world of digital media and marketing. Big name speakers for the mini event on 7th December 2012 include Claire Valoti O2 Media’s marketing director among others. Sounds good? You bet your ass it does! But don’t take my word for it, you can check out the website and also purchase tickets at http://www.sascon.co.uk/mini-conference/. Enjoy and who knows I may even see you there!

One event down, here’s another one – Manchester Wired City Reconnected event is an event designed to help businesses develop connections and collaborate with one and other. Unlike at SAScon, there are no speakers, instead guests are involved in actively meeting and learning from fellow business people. Before the event guests are asked to develop a business profile and are also given a list of other guests profiles from which they can pick which businesses they feel will be most beneficial to interface with. From an expert point of view (I joke, I joke) this seems like a great event for all you digital marketers out there looking to gain some input and develop valuable connections and from a student point of view the free bar sounds like a winner for all involved! Seriously though the event is on 29th November 2012 and more information and tickets can be found at http://www.albaassoc.com/events/bookevent.aspx?eventid=178

There is a lot going on in Manchester as I’m sure you’ve noticed, and that might have something to do with Manchester City Council unveiling plans to become one of the world’s leading digital cities by 2020, but that’s just a wild guess. For any events elsewhere I recommend keeping an eye on http://www.nwfor2012.com/. Alternatively, people reading could share any news on media events by commenting below in the true spirit of the digital age, sharing is caring people.

Au revoir for now.
