I couldn't work out if his comments about Geordie's were out of genuine derision or if he just made them to be inflammatory. I really struggled with his air of self importance, and his politics; however I can't knock his contributions to the music industry (which could be argued gave him his justifiable air of self importance). I think he'd find a statue of himself too pretentious as would I. I'd say that some kind of contemporary sculpture with a plaque would be better. I agree we need to recognise him - particularly in Manchester. I can’t say I was much of a fan either.
