Forest’s Pre-Season Signing Delivers the Goods

With two weeks to go before the start of the 2015/16 Football League Championship, Nottingham Forest is getting geared up for the season. And now, thanks to PushON, so are its fans.

We’ve just completed a major ecommerce build, which gives the club complete control of its own kit sales and merchandising after having the service provided by an external supplier, an arrangement that surprisingly is the norm throughout British football.

The new shop front sits alongside their club site and has brought new levels of seamless retail opportunity to the club. The back-end is now linked both to the website and to the in-store point of sale units, which greatly simplifies accounting and stock management.

The site was built on the powerful Magento Enterprise platform, with secure payments handled by Sage Pay and the POS integration created by ebizmarts. We were also asked to recommend a hosting provider and took little time in naming Manchester’s excellent UK Fast.

All hail the big guy

PushON’s co-founder Simon Wharton has had slightly more of a smile on his face than usual since winning the account because he’s a life-long Forest fan, having been born in the region before settling in the North West during his university days. “Yes, there have been a lot of visits to the City Ground,” he admits, “for research purposes, of course.”

Clubs from the Premiership down will no doubt be monitoring the success of the new retail page now that Forest have blinked first – the move could herald a major shift in the way clubs sell merchandising to their millions of fans worldwide.
