Internet Marketing Is Still Strong Despite Recession

As is to be expected, Marketing budgets overall have suffered in the UK during the course of the economic downturn.

However Internet Marketing has remained strong – even growing 21% compared to last year according the the lasts stats from the Internet Advertising Bureau. Now roughly 11.5% of companies spend over 15% of their budget on Internet Marketing.

The old adage ‘Half the money spent on advertising is wasted; the trouble is you don’t know which half.’* no-longer applies, because with Web Analytics and targeted online marketing it’s easy to see what works, what doesn’t, and therefore what to do for the next campaign, with an idea of what the success rate will be.

And with much lower rates of entry, it’s easy to give it a try and see what happens.  So it’s no surprise that Online Marketing is doing so well in these tough times, but I was surprised by the rate of growth.
