I guess, I was very busy with providing regular content to my website that I didn’t pay any notice to the other factors of owning a website. I’m glad I read this blog. I’ll add ‘checking my website’ on my to-do list this January 2009. Maybe (and I hope not), I’ll find some wrongs in my website. Thank you for sharing this very important info.

Hi Katrina

Thanks for the monotastic link. When going with cheapo hosts it’s always nice to see how often each goes down. I’ve put all my hosting accounts on to be monitored.

On tracking broken links, Webmaster central is better than using analytics. Googlebot doesn’t get tracked in Analytics (AFAIK) so you’re not going to see any broken links that pass on juice but not traffic. Of course, you can just use both but its easier to use Webmaster central than it is to mod the 404 page.
