For the moment, I think I'm gonna do... nothing. I don't think it's worth it, at least for now. I mostly run personal websites (and a few niche blogs for my freelancing) that use Google Analytics, so all I could do is add a sidebar notice that says "Hey, this blog uses Google Analytics. Block it in your browser if you don't want its cookie." Same goes for some forums I own and run for fun.

This law makes me think of when I was 16 and started making websites for fun, and I knew nothing about cookies. Imagine... a teenager fined for running a blog because they didn't put up a warning that they're using something they don't even know about.

It's plainly ridiculous. :( I hope they're going to cancel it.

The much touted browser based solution is not going to come on time, if at all. Is the EU going to force all web users to upgrade to whatever browser is deemed compliant? for more on this have a look here - which also has an example of a cookie consent solution: http://www.cookielaw.org/cookie-news/2011/7/22/defining-consent-for-cookies.aspx
