Recruitment firm identifies strong demand for SEO and PPC marketing professionals
A leading recruitment firm has claimed that marketing experts in the digital field are having a positive influence on the bottom line for many companies, and are therefore currently highly sought-after in the jobs market.
The recruitment firm, Robert Walters, claims that marketing executives with knowledge of either search engine optimisation (SEO) or pay per click (PPC) advertising are particularly hot properties at the moment, with the firm’s director of marketing recruitment, Tim Gilbert, acknowledging ‘increased demand’ for specialists in these areas.
‘In these challenging times’, commented Gilbert, ‘the value of marketing as a function in retaining and attracting new business is absolutely essential.’
Gilbert’s comments were also supported by a survey carried out by his recruitment firm into attitudes among those working in two professional fields – marketing and banking; in particular regarding how each group said they felt about their work; and how relevant each saw their work in contributing to their organisation’s success.
The survey revealed that over 24% of marketing respondents felt their work important enough for them to feel obliged to work at least 50 hours per week. The figure for bankers, in contrast, was only 11%.
Likewise, 84% of those working in marketing believed that what they did contributed to their organisation’s broader success. This figure contrasted with only 68% of bankers claiming that their work had a similar impact.
The survey, said Gilbert, refuted the notion that those working in PPC, SEO and other marketing areas were ‘not as important’ as those working in other parts of an organisation.
