Magento Meetup, 15 March 2017

Charlie Hankers | February 23rd 2017

PushON is pleased to announce our next Manchester Magento Meetup will be held at the offices of cloud hosting consultancy Steamhaus on 15 March 2017. As ever, the event is free to attend and is a chance to mingle with fellow eCommerce experts and listen to the words of some of the world’s foremost experts on the platform.

Speaking at the event will be:

Magento 2: Getting your Product Data Right (Matthew Haworth)

Importing products and configuring attributes are two critical tasks that often lack the elegance they deserve. In his talk Matthew will discuss product attributes, groups and sets, along with their configuration in both the Magento 2 backend and in code. He will also explore the options available for importing products effectively and anecdotes of Magento 2 quirks and misadventures.

Matthew has been working with Magento for nearly 6 years. Initially starting out with an agency, he eventually decided to go consulting to engage more directly with clients, their wider business and their culture. Over time he has worked with high street names such as Silentnight, Poundland, Bensons for Beds, Missguided, Pretty little thing and more.

Code to Browser in Less than 3 Seconds (Tom Procter)

Magento 2 development can be slow and tedious. Many of the issues that plague the early life of Magento 2 are related to cache, compilation, static files, public files, varnish, knockout, grunt, composer … the list goes on. All of these things take time to learn, and time to use, stopping you from using your real web development skills that you’ve laboured in learning. We have a development workflow that can take changes across all Magento 2 file types and show you your change in a browser in roughly 3 seconds (depending on your hardware).

Tom is the frontend lead at PushON and has led the development of most of our clients‘ projects.

Hosting Magento in the Cloud (Rob Greenwood)

Steamhaus’s Rob Greenwood will cover the benefits of hosting Magento in the cloud. Rob was a cornerstone of Melbourne hosting but is now committed to the cloud – and at the event he’ll be telling you why. Hint: if you’re in eCommerce and you have seasonal ups and downs, pay close attention.

Live Teleconference with Dave Uselton (Magento USA)

Magento’s Senior Solution Consultant will be joining us live from the USA to give the lowdown on new developments and take questions from attendees.

The event takes place at the offices of Steamhaus in the Northern Quarter in Manchester. Places are tight this time – we’ve only got room for 40 people.

More than ever, we respectfully ask you to let us know if you can’t make it after booking a place, as it will give someone else a chance. The event is free and we’ll be supplying food and drink to everyone who comes. To cancel your Meetup attendance, log in to your account in and click the “Change” button under Your RSVP: Yes. Then click “No” under “Still going” and “Finish RSVP”.

See you on 15 March!
